Gratitude Is Golden

Gratitude

This year, I really have so much to be thankful for – especially in the last few months. Celebrating my 24k anniversary in business, making time for my own creative evolution and continued development, seeing so many of you at Artwalk just a few weeks ago…all of these moments have filled me up as we head into my quiet season of winter.

Last month I traveled to Portland, Maine to take a week-long class with one of my favorite teachers. I spent each day working in wax, carving new designs and playing in ways that I haven’t in a long time.

Every morning I’d walk around the promenade admiring the old wood and brick homes. Afternoons were spent finding the best lobster roll around, walking along the wild shore, and taking in the rugged natural beauty of this eastern coast. Each evening I explored the city, sampling the chef-owned restaurants and variety of delicious cuisines Portland is known for.

Sometimes it really takes getting outside of the familiarity of home and our daily routines to remind us how much joy there is to be found in adventure, and how much creative flame there is to be sparked when we step into new places and spaces.

After so many pandemic years without it, resuming Artwalk was a great reminder about the power of community, and how connecting in person with familiar faces and making new acquaintances can help you see yourself as others see you. It felt so good to share my work with those who passed across my doorstep, talking shop with people who were excited to see how I create and express myself. I saw my space and working life through their eyes, and it reminded me that I have spent decades now living into a creative reality of my own design.

As you prepare to enjoy a meal with your friends and loved ones this month, I hope that you take a little time to let gratitude be your guide. What deserves recognition for what it’s brought to your life? Who do you appreciate for their love and support? May the golden warmth of giving thanks create within you a sense of abundance and wonder for the gift of being here.

xoxo
