Imperial Topaz to Celebrate a New Life in Fall

Sometimes I have the great fortune of working on a design that is steeped in meaning so personal to the client that it defines each detail. This gorgeous new ring is such a project. 

When my client came to me, she wanted to commemorate the birth of her son with something she could wear every day. We talked about her journey into motherhood which started with her decision to have him at home. She told me about the many ways she prepared herself physically, mentally, and emotionally. How she was guided through the birthing process by her midwife. And how when her son was born, the golden sunlight of that November day streamed through her curtains, casting the room in a warm glow. It was this beautiful detail that sparked the design.

Weaving the story together into the details of her ring, we were inspired by her son’s birthstone and chose Imperial Topaz for its rich golden hue. We also wanted this piece to compliment the set of self-commitment rings I previously designed for her so we chose yellow gold with white princess diamonds placed on either side.

The final detail is perhaps the sweetest, with an engraved hidden message from the song that was playing when her son entered the world. As they celebrate his first year of life, I wish them both a happy birthday and many more golden years ahead!
